Joy and Adam's Wedding

This was one of my favorite weddings this year.  Joy and Adam are so much fun to hang out with and seeing them together for a little while, you know they are meant to be together.  They are both hilarious, always joking around.  Of course, all their friends are jokesters too.  Needless to say, hanging out with them during the getting ready and taking pictures was a blast.  I love it when the guys and gals are having fun and are light hearted.  I'm very much the same so it feels like we're all just hanging out with old friends.  That sure makes the day go by so fast!!  All they guys had on Chuck Taylors. I love those shoes!! I used to own like three pairs of them.  That was so long ago though.  The guys were hilarious!!  One of the groomsmen, Jimmy, who I will be shooting his wedding next year, had a Chi flat iron with him.  Why he had one, I never got a straight answer...Anyhoo, when all the guys were trying to figure out how to fold their very creased handkershiefs into their jackets, they wanted to straighten them before folding them.  So I suggested they use his flat iron to straighten the silk handkerchiefs. Of course one guy even had a water spray bottle to moisten the handkerchiefs so they would straighten better!!  It was such a funny scene with Jimmy flat ironing each guy's handkerchief...  I just thought I'd share that...

Joy and Adam wanted to see each other before the wedding so we staged out First Look just outside in the courtyard.  It was so cute when she squeeze his butt cheeks to make him turn around instead of touching him on the shoulder like most brides normally do.  Like I said, they are both full of personality!!

Well without further ado, here are some images from that day!!

A Thanksgiving Trip to Mexico

For this past holiday, my girlfriend and I went to Guanajuato Mexico for her friend's wedding.  I have never been there but have heard many great things about the city.  It's supposedly very beautiful and without all the craziness you see in Mexico City.  Well part of that was true.  It doesn't have many if any stop lights, but it does have a lot of narrow streets with roundabouts. Driving around in the taxi is a little nerve racking like Mexico City but without all the traffic jams! I'm sure glad I didn't have to drive there.  Streets were super narrow and very hilly!! Krystal's college friend Suzanna and her fiance Ricky were getting married in a church high on the hills over looking the city.  It was really gorgeous!!  We met many of their friends at the hotel we were staying at and hung out with everyone while we took a walking tour of the city.  I am a huge fan of street food and was set on getting my fill of true authentic mexican tacos, straight from the street carts.  Those are like 8 pesos each and are delish!!  I think we stopped at something like 10 taco stands during our visit!!  The architecture around the city and the buildings are really gorgeous!  I thoroughly loved all the beautiful colors and how all the buildings are built so close together that it created very narrow alleys between each building.  All the streets were curved and so if you walked down some alleyway, it was super easy to get disoriented and thoroughly lost!! That happened more than once.  Luckily we had many spanish speakers in our crew!!

The weather was absolutely perfect the whole time we were there!! It got up the high 70's during the day while we were walking around and then dropped to high 40's in the evening!! A light jacket was perfect for an evening out on the town!! I met some really awesome new friends that I would love to hang out with again!! It was such a great weekend among fun people and of course, a beautiful wedding.  I really loved this trip with my girlfriend and would love to come back there again someday!!

A Perfect Day at The Courtyard at St. James with Leslie and John

This was my first wedding at The Courtyard at St. James.  I've done a lot of wedding photography in Houston but never at this venue. I have been there before but never for a wedding. It's such a beautiful venue for weddings and it's designed in a way that you can have two weddings happen at the same time!!  The weather that morning was really drab and rainy and to say Leslie was a little nervous about the weather is an understatement.  Luckily by noon, the skies opened up and we got sunshine for the rest of the day!!  We all got started a little later than planned but we got everyone situated and dressed in time for a "First Look" about 1 hour before the ceremony.  Leslie was so nervous and worried before she saw John, but once she saw him, everything was okay.  She told me immediately after seeing him that she's so glad she did.  John didn't seem nervous at all.  The ceremony was outside and it was a wee bit chilly! I think it got in the low 60's or so and unfortunately the bridesmaids all had sleeveless dresses on!! I think the space heaters outside helped but I could imagine most people were ready to head inside after the ceremony was over!!  The reception was a blast inside. they had some great music and of course very good food.  Of course you would expect that since John is a chef.  The first picture is the groom's cake and it had a lot of culinary items on it, including a bacon wrapped filet mignon!! How cool was that!!  I thought that was really cute!! Their cake was also really beautiful!!

To top off a wonderful night, they left in a vintage Rolls Royce!! I love those cars, they are so sweet looking!!  We got some cool pictures of them in front of their hotel.
