Naomi and John Card Wedding - Aug 7, 2010

Naomi and John had their wedding at Second Baptist Church.  I really like this church b/c the the bride's room is full of picture opportunities.  It's also really big so no one is feeling really cramped. We arrived a couple of hours before the wedding and captured her getting ready.  One of my favorites weddings last year, Mike and Liz Martin, was also at this church.  The sanctuary itself is really well lit, which makes pictures a lot easier. We often have to work in dimly lit churches and that's always really tough.  After the ceremony, the whole wedding party left in a Trolley.  That was really cool.  They made their way to Minute Maid Park where they had their reception.  It took me a while to realize why they had their reception at Minute Maid.  Naomi didn't come across as a huge baseball fan when I met her initially. Well it turns out that her father, Terry Puhl, played for the Astros many years ago.  That was really cool to find that out.  Well another interesting development that day, Craig Biggio, Phil Garner and the iconic Nolan Ryan, was also there for this wedding reception!!  That was really cool to see them there.  The coordinator there, allowed us to go down to the Dugout and have the whole wedding party stand atop the visitor's dugout for a once in a lifetime picture! That was really cool!!  Overall the wedding was really cool and I think everyone had an awesome time.  One of my favorite parts of the wedding was the last dance the couple shared together in an empty room, as all the guests were ushered downstairs to prepare for their exit!  They took that moment to have one last dance alone. That was really sweet!!
here are some of the images from that day!

Katie and Steve Engagement

Can I say HOT!!! OMG, we did a session around 5pm last week. It was so muggy outside, I was sweating bullets!! Thank god katie and Steve gave me a Frappucino!! That made my day.  It's about the little things that make your day great!! Well, they were troopers and handled the heat like champs. We cruised around the Westheimer and Hwy 6 area! I've been shooting around  here a lot lately and I keep finding cool stuff every time I go out!! Katie had a really cute black dress on so I was very excited about the possibilities with such an outfit that would drastically contrast against the backgrounds I am used to taking couples on engagement sessions.

Well here are some of my faves from that session!!

Olivia and Nick's Engagement Session

For this engagement session, we ventured over the the west side of town, kind of near where I live.  We were near Hwy 6 and Westheimer area.  I figured there were lots of businesses and grungy areas that we could explore and exploit for pictures.  I was not disappointed.  Our first stop of this back alley behind this strip center was a little more interested than we had anticipated. During our shooting, we saw two nefarious gentlemen driving slowly in front of some storage units.  Very suspicious looking but they didn't bother us too much.  After we left that area and was shooting in an adjacent area a couple hundred yards away, we heard a gunshot from the area we were just in....guess I was happy we left when we did!!  We live in a scary time!!

Joy and Adam's Engagement Session

I had lots of fun with Joy and Adam as we meandered through the galleria area for their engagement session. We started shooting behind Macaroni grill on Westheimer. Totally random how we ended up there but hey, everywhere I shoot is pretty random anyways!! It makes it so much fun.  We proceeded to other fine abandoned establishments around Houston, like a old apartment building garage and the back door of a strip club off of Richmond.  Gosh, I do take my clients to only the best spots....LOL.
The third picture is behind a strip club.  The best find of the day was the old Truluck's building that is covered with a polished metal facade.  If you know the old Truluck's location on Westheimer and Fountain View, then you know what I am talking about. It's so cool and it looks like one of those old theaters from the outside.  Anyhoo, this engagement session ended with some great great shots I really love!!

Barbie and Peter's Engagement

Wow, it's been a long time since I last blogged and so much has happened. Where do I begin. Let me post some pictures from Barbie and Peter's engagement session from a couple of weeks ago.  I've been behind on posting them to my blog but I have been keeping up with my facebook page more.

Barbie is so cute and tiny.  They are so cute together.  We had a great time shooting about town and ended up in midtown with a shot of the street sign Holman, since it was his last name.

Trash the Dress - Liz and Mike

Talk about a fun session!!  I met them down in Galveston early on a Sunday morning before it got really hot down in Galveston.  As I got there early, I decided I'd stop by the Micky D's for a little caramel frap...big mistake...that was the worst and slowest macdonald's I've ever been to. It took them 20 mins to get my drink!! How long does it take to make a frap!!??  Ridiculous..
Luckily things markedly improved as Liz and Mike showed up and we headed to the seawall.  Liz changed into her dress in the back of Mike's truck. Can you believe she put on a wedding dress in the back seat of a car??!! How crazy is that??
We stayed around some piers and jetties.  I've always wanted to take pictures there and finally found a bride crazy enough to go there and be adventurous!! It was so much fun being out there on the sand, rocks and finally in the water!!  The water felt really warm!! We started will all the dry land shots on the lifeguard stand and jetty first and then we headed to the pier to get closer to the water.  After much ado, we finally had her stand in the water.  Light there was awesome at that time of day!! She was a trooper b/c some of the waves almost knocked her over and she only fell once or twice but she got back up!!  Mike was so funny and they kept the mood so light and funny.  As I was taking pictures of her in the water, I naturally was in the water with her and as I crouched down for a shot, a wave hits me in the butt and my shorts are completely soaked. I should have brought my board shorts for this event..That would have been smart!!  Anyhoo, we finished with some of them lying in the sand.
We finished the shoot there and then headed to a restaurant for some drinks and food since we were all starving after having so much fun in the water..
What a great day at the beach.
Here are some images from that session!!
There are more on my Facebook Album !!

Stephanie and Justin Wedding

These images are way overdue but with my recent hectic travel schedule I haven't had a chance to post these up.  Stephanie got ready at this awesome new hotel in the Market Street area in the Woodlands called Hotel Avia.  Talk about a sweet hotel, the decoration inside was so modern and chic, I could have been there all day taking pictures!! Unfortunately, I didn't get all day there.  I captured what I could with each of the girls and I got a couple of Stephanie before we were ushered by the limo driver to head to the Church.  The wedding itself was at the Fellowship of the Woodlands Chapel. it was a really hot day outside when we took pictures of all the girls.  They were all sweating profusely, as was I , so we had to do everything very quickly!  Gotta love Texas summer heat!!  I wish so badly to have Cali weather, no humidity!!!  Justin just received his commission so he was wearing his dress whites, which is always so sharp looking. He has been commissioned to Norfolk VA so they will be U-Hauling it to VA soon after the return from their honeymoon!!  Anyhoo, we got some really awesome images at their reception place, Augusta Pines Country Club.  The clouds were so awesome along with the really blue sky!! I love images with great skies!!  I hope you like them!!
I will be postings some images from my recent wedding in Puebla Mexico very soon!!
